Sergi Roberto’s contract with Barca expires at the end of June. The two sides have negotiated an extension, showing progress in the early stages.

However, financial difficulties have caused Barca to decide not to renew the veteran midfielder. Last-minute negotiations have not changed the situation.

Sergi Roberto is currently a free agent and according to transfer expert Matteo Moretto, Fiorentina is likely to be the 32-year-old midfielder’s next destination.

Roberto joined Barca’s famous La Masia academy at the age of 14, making his debut for the first team in November 2010, making a total of 373 appearances for the club.

He was Messi’s last close associate, leaving Barca after the Argentine superstar’s departures, alongside Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

Will Sergi Roberto be the next Barca player to join Inter Miami, reuniting with Messi, Suarez, Busquets and Jordi Alba?

Remarkably, all four who left before him are now together again – in the Inter Miami colours. There was some news that Sergi Roberto could also reunite with his close brothers in the US.

During his memorable journey, Roberto won 2 Champions League titles, 7 La Liga titles, 6 Spanish King’s Cups, 2 FIFA Club World Cups with Barca.

And people cannot forget the moment Roberto put the ball into the PSG net in the last seconds of extra time, creating an incredible comeback for Barca, with a 6-1 victory after losing 0-4 in the first leg of the 2017 Champions League round of 16.
