Messi’s influence has just helped Inter Miami receive an $8 million grant from the state of Florida (USA), to build a road in the Miami Freedom Park area, where the team is building a new stadium.

“The money comes from the governor’s job growth fund, while the stadium is privately funded. This funding is to build a road to ease traffic in and around Miami Freedom Park, where Inter Miami’s new stadium is being built near Miami International Airport,” the Miami Herald (USA) reported.
Previously, after Mr. Jorge Mas, co-owner of Inter Miami, posted a photo of Messi with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on social network X (formerly Twitter), he was criticized by many people. The reason, some people think that the Argentine star’s name was exploited to help the team get more sponsorship funds. Besides, there was the hint of wanting to link football to politics…
However, Inter Miami Club and the team leaders along with Messi were silent in the face of criticism. The matter was only clarified after the Miami Herald and some sources announced that the sponsorship came from the governor’s job growth fund, and was used to build a road to reduce traffic in and around the Miami Freedom Park area.
On Instagram, Inter Miami President and co-owner David Beckham posted a photo of himself sitting next to his partner, billionaire Jorge Mas, with the caption: “Yes, it was fun. 4-3 under the bright lights… a great game. 4 assists for Jordi Alba. Advance to the round of 16.” This is the match in which Inter Miami beat Toronto FC 4-3 on August 9 to advance to the round of 16 of the Leagues Cup, aiming to defend the championship. In this match, defender Jordi Alba contributed 4 assists for teammates Matias Rojas (2 goals), Diego Gomez and Luis Suarez to score.

According to the Daily Mail (UK): “Mr. David Beckham is a key figure of Inter Miami in the project to build a new stadium Miami Freedom Park, including a 25,000-seat stadium, luxury restaurants, hotels and a park. Therefore, this team takes advantage of existing resources such as Messi’s influence to seek sponsorship for its project”.
